Disarmed With Dave “Steven Seagaling”

Dave: There are two things about Steven Seagal and Dave.  You know the sixty year old action adventure star with the bad hair color and the even badder martial arts skills. You see Dave literally ran into Steven Segal one time in Las Vegas. I was standing in the aisleway at the Las Vegas Convention Center at a trade show talking to someone when I backed into Steven who was standing there talking with some other folks. Let me tell you. Steven Seagal is one big, bad dude.
Dave’s been in the disarmament business for years, figuratively speaking that is. When Dave enters a business negotiation the idea is to disarm the opponent as quickly and cleanly as possible using words. You’ve seen the movies. Steven Seagal is standing there unarmed and his opponent is standing there with a gun or a knife. You blink your eyes and then Steven Seagal has the gun or the knife and the opponent is usually lying on the ground moaning some indiscernible words.
Here’s where I got the idea that words were more powerful than the sword and so far I haven’t seen it proven wrong.
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12
My wife has been a witness to it countless times.  She refers to the technique of “Steven Seagaling” someone as a verb as in “You really Steven Segaled that hotel manager who was yelling at the housekeeping staff.”
It’s like the word “droning.”  Droning used to be the word you would have used to describe the teacher’s voice in the Charlie Brown cartoons “Whaant whaant whaant whaaant waa.”  Now “droning” is a word that describes what happens to an American citizen when they are not only deprived of due process, but their entire life is snuffed out on the whim of an executive order to drown out the voice of liberty with a droning order for co-belligerentcy (http://tradewithdave.com/?p=15289).
Dave would never suggest, nor is he capable of engaging in hand-to-hand aikido combat in the hallways of his local public school at the levels of Mr. Seagal or Arizona Sheriff Arpaio but Dave is noticing a trend towards putting some posse back in posse comitatus.  Dave, having four older brothers got in his share of violent playground confrontations.  I actually remember going to school early in the first grade to watch people fight on the playground.  I even achieved elementary UFC status when I put a sixth grader in a full nelson.  How many seven year olds even known what a full nelson is, but those days are gone… long gone.
The man with more degrees from Harvard than Steven Seagal has leather jackets, Edwin Vieira, is out with a new book titled The Sword and Sovereignty.  The book is about more than simply the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and the right to be disarmed by executive order or being Seagaled as an unwelcome shooter at the school cafeteria.  The book is about the concept behind an armed and well-regulated Militia of the Several States as clearly spelled out in the Constitution.  Vieira’s analysis is particularly interesting to Dave because it turns the concept of the State’s Militia right back onto the State’s governor and naturally to the local judge and ultimately the county sheriff in the state’s rights trickle down effect.
Dave happens to know that only select states have governors who are members of the White House Council of Governors and the constitutionality of that concept in itself and its creation via executive order (http://tradewithdave.com/?p=188) ranks right up there with the proliferation of “fusion” centers.  Maybe they can come up with a White House Council of Sheriffs and if your sheriff is a member he gets special benefits just like the selected states that have governors who are “members” of the select group… “Ooh! ooh! pick me! pick me!”  I don’t think Sheriff Arpaio is going to be receiving a White House invitation any time soon, but he did send out a crystal clear R.S.V.P. (that’s French for “bring it”) to anyone who wants to visit the public schools in Arizona that they will be receiving a warm reception from Steven Seagal himself or other trained members of what can only be describe in the Latin as posse Seagal-taught-us.
Libertarian website and home of The Internet Reformation, The Daily Bell conducted an exhaustive interview with Edwin Vieira on his new book and I have made reference to some select quotes from the interview below.  Allow Dave to preface the comments with three quotes that set the tone for the debate.
Chairman Mao said “Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.”
Rapper KRS said:
Be an officer, you wicked overseer.  Ya hotshot, wanna get props and be a savior.  First show a little respect, change your behavior.  Change your attitude, change your plan.  There could never really be justice on stolen land.  Are you really for peace and equality or when my car is hooked up, you know you wanna follow me.  Your laws are minimal cause you won’t even thin about lookin’ at the real criminal.
The creator of gangsta rap and Hollywood actor ICE T had this to say on the topic:
“I will give up my gun when everybody else does.  Doesn’t that make sense?  If there were guns here would you want to be the only person without one.”  “It’s legal in the United States.  It’s part of our Constitution.   The right to bear arms is the last form of defense against tyranny, not to hunt.  It’s to protect yourself from the police.”  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GwIbyp4xBU
Here are some selected excerpts from The Daily Bell interview with Edwin Vieira:
I describe “the individual right to keep and bear arms” as legally indefensible because fundamentally it is a right in name only, inasmuch as it lacks an effective remedy if an highly organized and armed tyranny sets out to suppress it, whereas the true “right of the people to keep and bear Arms” exercised in the context of “well regulated Militia” is the Constitution’s own preferred remedy against usurpation and tyranny in their every aspect.
…should these principles not be applied in the very near future − immediately, if not sooner, as I like to put it − America will slip under the control of a national para-militarized police-state apparatus.
“It is shocking, even appalling. Especially so when more and more commentators, bloggers, and others on the Internet are recognizing, and correctly so, that the ultimate purpose of the Second Amendment is not to protect hunters or target shooters, or even to enable individuals to protect themselves against common criminals but instead to enable common Americans to resist the political crimes of usurpation and tyranny. Which, I believe, the historical record proves beyond peradventure cannot be accomplished through the exercise of an “individual right to keep and bear arms,” but rather demands collective action through “the Militia of the several States.”

“If you mean do individuals need to form private militia, on their own, then the constitutional answer is an unequivocal NO. The constitutional Militia, “the Militia of the several States” incorporated in the original Constitution and the “well regulated Militia” to which the Second Amendment refers, are State governmental institutions or establishments.”

If you ask Dave, this is getting very interesting and smells like a trap.  Does Dave want to see his neighbor who happens to have a concealed carry permit roaming the hallways of Dave’s kid’s school guarding the kids?  Probably not, but have you got a better alternative?  How about dismantling the entire public education system instead of Waiting for Superman or winning the charter school lottery – whichever comes first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKTfaro96dg.  If you don’t win the charter school lottery, then you can go to the local corner store and try for millions in the education lottery.  I guess that debate would require a whole ‘nother blog post.

Does Dave want to join a local militia organized by his local Sheriff?  I’m not so sure I want to join anything that might lead me from being under the White House Council of Governors and then the White House Council of Sheriffs and finally the White House Council of Milita members.  Feel free to close the barn door if you like but it seems to Dave like that horse is already out to pasture.  Would Dave join a secret mobile militia?  Not if it means ending up spending fifteen years in prison like that Amish mobile barbershop operator highlighted in the previous blog post below and they were only armed with TSA video-approved self-defense scissors (http://tradewithdave.com/?p=15208).  What’s the answer?  Same as it ever was and you can read about it here http://bible.cc/isaiah/9-6.htm.
About a week ago, I was driving through my small town on a Saturday and there was this mass of people crossing the street and cars were everywhere.  Dave’s town, like most towns, got fairly decimated by the mall and the urban big box sprawl (We’re getting a second Wal-Mart! and low prices – everday on everything but meth.), but there’s kind of a little novelty of a downtown that remains and it has an economic development committee and a state supported “Main Street” association where people get salaries but they don’t have Talebian “skin in the game.”  The rents are too high for any of the small business to flourish, but they put up a good front.
You know the kind of quasi-government organizations that put literally put up facades and get government grants for facade programs because you’re not going to do any serious business but they want to keep it cute.  Dave’s spent years working on that stuff, including historic preservation, redevelopment and the like, but that’s for another blog post.  Suffice it to say when a crowd turns out in this town of slightly over 10,000 population, you notice it.
So Dave is driving through his burg when he sees all these people who appear to be headed to Mecca all converging on the local armory building.  There was a gun show going on and it costs $5 to get in.  Dave parks his car because he’s got to see it first hand.  Well, it took twenty minutes to find a parking space in what is normally a sparsely populated area on a Saturday at noon.  Dave, being the frugal guy that he is, didn’t pay the $5.  I just stood next to the door and watched a standing room only crowd circling around the tables filled with guns.  I started to video it, but then decided that I better not.  Lots of folks were carrying guns in their hands and all I had was a camera phone.
I asked the guy standing at the door with a hand clicker counting the people coming in and going out, “Hey, can you actually walk in here and buy a gun?”  He said “You can buy a rifle or a shotgun and walk out with it, but you can’t buy a handgun.  You have to wait a few days for that.  If you want a rifle they’ll call it in on the spot and make sure you’re legal to own one.”  I said “So, the government knows everyone who buys a gun?”  The guy said “They don’t know about my guns.  They’re not registered.”  I said “Is that legal?  Can you have guns that aren’t registered?”  He said “I don’t know and I don’t plan on finding out.”
In Arizona it looks like “The Golden Rule(r)” has gone metric and is now 9 millimeters.
School days, school days Dear old Golden Rule days ‘Reading and ‘riting and ‘rithmetic Taught to the tune of the hick’ry stick
When I load my Glock it goes click, click, click

Steven Seagal helps Sheriff Arpaio train posse members

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio had a famous face by his side Saturday afternoon as he trained members of his posse to defend Valley schools. view full article
Here’s some clips of Steven Seagal training. Remember Dave doesn’t condone violence any more than Jesus did when he drove the moneychangers out of the temple at the end of a whip.
