Muslim students discriminated against in the UK

Press TV: UK's City University has banned Muslim students from praying on its premises because they refused to submit the content of the Friday sermon before it took place. The students say this would have been tantamount to curtailing their free speech and freedom to worship. The university, on the other hand, says that they fear that extremist messages would be preached during the khutba, something the students deny.

This conflict is symptomatic of the wider tensions between university authorities across Britain and their Muslim students. Universities have effectively been instructed to spy on Muslim students as part of the government's counter terrorism strategy which says that young people are the most vulnerable to radicalization. This has led to innocent Muslim students being handed over to the police simply for doing legitimate research.
