UK Police Chief Sara Thornton Wants Rethink On ‘Automatic Belief’ Of Sex Crimes

By : A piece in Times by Fiona Hamilton (Crime Editor):

The head of the National Police Chiefs’ Council wants forces to rethink their policy of automatically believing alleged victims of sexual crime, The Times has learnt.
Sara Thornton, the former chief constable of Thames Valley, also has concerns about police describing complainants as victims at the outset of an investigation before anything has been evaluated, let alone proven.
It is understood she feels that the police service has gone too far in the instruction to immediately believe alleged victims, a national policy aimed at encouraging people to come forward and give them confidence that they will be taken seriously. The fraught issue has resulted in a deadlock at the most senior level of the police service because the College of Policing, which produces guidance for forces, strongly backs the status quo. The policy has been under review for more than a year since Sir Richard Henriques, a retired High Court judge who examined the Metropolitan Police’s disastrous VIP abuse inquiry, said that the automatic-belief policy warped the judgment of officers.

Current Sex Panic Harks Back To The Era Of Coddling Women

The outcome of #BelieveAllWomen is no utopia. We've seen such a repressive regime before.
By Megan McArdle: Last week I considered our culture's vanishing burden of proof when a prominent man is accused of any sexual impropriety. Certainly I wouldn't want the bad old days of sexual harassment to continue. But there must be some way to find justice for women who have been abused without rushing to punish men who may not have abused anyone.
You can think of crimes as a sort of pyramid: At the top, there are a relatively small number of actions that we can all clearly agree merit the severest sanction, if proven. And then, as you slide down the walls of the pyramid, a growing number of cases that are less and less bad. At the base of the pyramid is a gray area where reasonable people can disagree about whether the evidence is strong, or the behavior alleged merits any sanction.
What happens if we try to apply the sanctions that are clearly merited for the guys at the top to the guys in the middle? What happens if we try to move the line down until it encompasses more and more of the guys at the bottom?

Are Men Responsible For Ending Sexual Violence?

StudioBrule: Professor Fiamengo explains how feminists set an impossible task upon the shoulders of all men, and then berate all men for being unable to accomplish the impossible. Weinstein is used as an example of this strategy which was first used by Andrea Dworkin, who demanded one day with no rape in the world, and went on to suggest that men were less human than women because they would not "grant" this request.

Amazon Pulls Male Infant Ritual Genital Mutilation Training Kit From Sale Over DIY Child Genital Mutilation Concerns

ByA circumcision training kit has been chopped from Amazon's website following concern that it encourages DIY surgery.

Buyers using the "infant circumcision training kit" could whack away on a model of a male child's genitals with a selection of scalpels.
