How A Whistleblower Changed The World

Speak not because it is safe, but because it is right. So goes the ethos of Edward Snowden, the notorious NSA contractor who in 2013 leaked highly classified information detailing the government’s broad domestic and international surveillance powers.
Via ValueWalk: Where he was once seen as a traitor -- or worse, a foreign spy -- Snowden has become something of a pseudo-superhero over the years. In fact, since joining Twitter in 2015, Snowden has amassed more than 3.8 million followers. And while he’s a highly active Tweeter, he only follows one account in return: the NSA.
As a purveyor of truth and an advocate for more transparent privacy laws, Snowden has been an integral voice in the fight for freedom from overt and systemic government oppression. He’s chimed in on everything from the 2016 presidential election to the recent internet censorship happening Russia and more. He’s even schooled cable TV news pundits a time or two on the very meaning of surveillance.
In fact, it was Snowden's work as a whistleblower that lead to both The Guardian and The Washington Post winning the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
He’s one of the strongest and most influential voices of reason in an age of countless government leaks and partisan whistleblowers; more than that, he’s one of the few prominent anti-government advocates who’s dedicated his life to working for the public (as stated in his Twitter bio).
So how has Snowden changed the world? Let’s take a look.

Capricious Nature Of US Dollar Empire

"Trump's applying the same fuckuckta logic
to global trade and looking like an idiot."
Max and Stacy discuss the capricious economic and financial policies of the United States that are even leading European allies to consider alternatives to the SWIFT system upon which much global trade currently relies. As the US has increasingly used its authority over the payments system to economically punish competitors, enemies and allies alike, many wonder if a more stable trade system might be found in a more neutral decentralized system. In the second half, Max interviews Gabriel Abed of Bitt.com about the future of cash and whether a stablecoin can help the economies of the Caribbean and neighboring islands.

US Senate Votes To Save Net Neutrality

By Tyler Durden: The Senate voted on Wednesday to restore the FCC's rules on net neutrality, passing a bill which will probably die on the floor of the House, but may ignite a fierce debate among Democrats ahead of midterm elections.
Senate Democrats managed to force the Wednesday vote using a rare legislative tool called the "Congressional Review Act" (CRA) - which allows Congress, with a majority vote in each chamber along with the president's signature, to overturn recent policy changes.
Democrats argue that without the FCC's net neutrality rules, companies such as Comcast and Verizon will have free reign to discriminate against certain content, or allow superior access to partner websites and services. Under the old rules, internet service providers (ISPs) are required to treat all internet traffic equally.
In order to pass through the House, the bill would need 25 Republicans to support the Democratic effort in order to even bring it up for a vote.
Most Republicans have argued that the FCC's net neutrality rules are overkill and not required for broadband providers - urging Democrats to come to the table and negotiate a legislative solution to replace the FCC rules. The broadband industry is predictably very supportive of this effort.
